Combining the goofball humor of Check Your Head-era Beastie Boys with the lyrical contortionism of 2Mex, Nova Scotia’s Wordburglar uses Burglaritis to orchestrate a musical beat-scape bubbling over with pop culture detritus, tongue-in-cheek self-deprecation and dictionary-mangling couplets. Despite the lack of melanin, WB’s clever rhyme constructions, DYI ethos and good-natured sense of humor should thwart any Eminem comparisons and establish him as a self-made word-smith capable of stealing (or burgling?) the show. Grade: B+ | ||||||
