Unfamiliar with this new breed of energetic sound I mulled through a lot of the cd thinking how much better this would be in a club, after 5am, and several Red Bull’s. The genre is a mixture of jump up, African rhythms & instrumentation, brash clubby dub and lyrical overtones all mixed into one. This is very much like the days of rave I experienced many years ago and I would like to leave it back there but these folks have re-energized young minds and popular DJs to drop these crazy tracks. Unsure of how these landed here but DJ Riot lends a track that evolves from the mean streets of dark dub into atmospheric mellow dubstep on “Mermaid Dub”. Another suspicious track is DJ Malvado’s “Puto Mekie”. It’s a hyped up heavy hand sin the air and almost electro inspired tribal track. It’s a shame a lot of the other tracks just seem to bunch up into one angry episode but I’m sure some will enjoy these new flavours mixed here. Oxide – www.fabriclondon.com
