Well
Dreamers

Well is a collaboration project featuring the simple, early-90s style of Cleen combined with the post-Project Blowed, fast-paced flow of Demune, or as Cleen describes their styles on “Yin Yang Brothers,” Demune “seems like the Pacific Ocean while I’m more like a kiddie pool.” Oddly enough, the combination works as the two attempt to channel the Golden Age of rap with the help of a variety of producers. But really, what pulls it all together is the fun, loose vibe of the recording and the humourous lyrics. While Cleen might mock his own flow and poke fun at Demune’s complex delivery, he’s also willing to challenge Demune for dibs on the crazy drum ‘n bass portion of “Dreamers” and even takes a little ribbing from his partner for his rhyme pattern on “Group Hug.” With a fun EP that should appeal to a wider audience, Well may have tapped into that same primitive desire humans have for building a pool on ocean front property. And who wouldn’t want that? [Thomas Quinlan]
