Statra comes back onto the scene with a bang with its back catalogue of 10 Years of Statra Vol 1. The 4 track EP delivers some deep and mind opening music from Alexi Delano, Jeff Sharel, Denver McCarthy, & Nu Mood Orchestra. These guys have been honing their craft for years and given some of their finest to Statra and now its pay back to the folks that made them who they are. One of my favorite Alexi Delano tracks "Afro Science" appears here. Its chalk full of chunky afro drums and a slight organic groove that lingers in the back to slowly motivate you to get up and attack the dancefloor. Nu Mood Orchestra is known for their ominous and mysterious tracks of deep soulful rhythms. "Aphrodisiac" is no different as it guides you on a trip into sublime bliss with eerie chords and a flowing bline into the sunrise. "On A Path of Devotion" from Denver McCarthy is a more techy edged track that wanders into the acid dimension. Whether or not you’re a fan the old school sounds will encourage the listen to the new school production techniques. Last on the EP is Jeff Sharel. His interpretation of traditional dub music is not ordinary in any way. "Nyabinghis" morphs into a driving techno track. The studio effects were recorded live to encompass the whole reggae vibe which lends the whole ’feel’ to the track. Be sure to keep an eye out for the next release from Statra as they will be hitting the streets soon.
