After discovering Hip-Hop at the age of 10, Nova Scotia born and raised Jay Bizzy, started rhyming around 1993, with local crews, Mad Drama and 2,1., and became his hometown innovative hip-hop figure when he started making and distributing his own mixtapes which featured popular Hip-Hop songs from that era, but would also showcase the local talent in Shelburne.

In 1999, with the help of then infamous file sharing software Napster, Bizzy became the author of a so called "Nova Scotia, small-town anthem." A rap song he wrote and recorded in the back of his ice cream shop in his home town. That track's "funny cause they're true" lyrics, inspired from the many stereotypes of growing up in Shelburne, NS were easily relatable to Hip-Hop and non hip-hop listeners.

After moving back to Halifax to attend Saint Mary’s University, the hobby known as Hip-Hop started to take a serious turn. He met up with local rapper/producer Classified, who helped Bizzy record his first CD, "Hard Rhymes in the Maritimes," released independently, and nominated for an ECMA for best urban recording of 2002. The natural next step was for Jay Bizzy to pay dues by performing at shows all over Halifax, and the Maritimes for next to nothing, if anything for pay. An experience that proved to be beneficial as he has had the opportunity to be on stage with artists and groups such as The Game, Busta Rhymes, Kardinal Offishall, The Rascalz, Classified, Skratch Bastid, Buck 65 and Universal Soul.

His highly anticipated, long overdue second CD, The Ghost Of Jacob Marley, is set to be released on Urbnet Records on January 2th, with a buzz that is creating high expectations, something which doesn't impress a guy whose aggressive lyrics and crazed multi-syllable flows are reflections of his passion and focus to make classical, quality Hip-Hop music with a Maritimes perspective
