JAY BIZZY - The Ghost of Jacob Marley [URBNET Records]
posted by: Kim Smith Parks

Straight out of Halifax, The Ghost of Jacob Marley is the second CD by Nova Scotian rapper Jay Bizzy. His first CD Hard Rhymes in the Maritimes made big noise on the east coast and this second CD has been highly anticipated.

The CD includes 16 tracks plus a bonus. Aggressive lyrics fly fast and furious on subjects like sex and smoking weed. Jay Bizzy spits braggadocio rhymes telling his life story as a white rapper in Shelburne, NS making a rep for himself.

The title track describes the voice in Jay Bizzy’s head. ‘Dirt Dessert’ is a sexual tale rapped over an Ol’ Dirty Bastard sample and ‘Stereotype’ appears to be aimed at all those who judged Bizzy and doubted his talents while he was coming up.

Beats are mostly funky, back-in-the-day, classic hip-hop complete with beat box and scratch effects. There is also a couple of reggae infused beats featuring Rocky Ninja. Other featured guests include Johnny Hardcore, Classified and East Coast Warriors.

Jay Bizzy’s The Ghost of Jacob Marley is classic hip-hop beats and in-your-face lyrics delivered in a hypnotic flow. Jay Bizzy is true to who he is and where he comes from.
