BIOGRAPHY

Bizzy's passion for hip-hop can be heard in his aggressive lyrics and crazed multi-syllable flows. His focus has always been on making classical, quality hip-hop music; but from a Maritimes perspective.

Jay Bizzy was born in Halifax, grew up in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Discovered hip-hop at the age of 10. Started rhyming around 1993, with local crews, Mad Drama and 2,1., and was the first person in his town to make and sell hip-hop mixtapes. These mixtapes featured popular hip-hop songs from that era, but would also showcase the local talent in Shelburne.

In 1999, Bizzy wrote and recorded "U R Shelburne When," in the back of his ice cream shop in his home town. The "funny cause they're true" lyrics, inspired from the many stereotypes of growing up in Shelburne were easily relatable to hip-hop and non hip-hop listeners. In fact, thanks to Napster, the popularity of the song grew, and soon became the "Nova Scotia, small-town anthem."

Bizzy started taking his hobby a little more serious when he moved back to Halifax to attend Saint Mary¹s University. He met up with local rapper/producer Classified, who helped Bizzy record his first CD, "Hard Rhymes in the Maritimes." The CD was released independently, and was nominated for an ECMA for best urban recording of 2002. This led to Jay Bizzy paying dues by performing at shows all over Halifax, and the Maritimes for next to nothing, if anything for pay. Over the past four years, Bizzy has played with such artists and groups as; The Game, Busta Rhymes, Kardinal Offishall, The Rascalz, Classified, Kaleb Simmonds, Backburner Crew, Jorun, Skratch Bastid, Buck 65, Universal Soul, Spesh K, and Styles Of Beyond to name a few.

Bizzy's passion for hip-hop can be heard in his aggressive lyrics and crazed multi-syllable flows. His focus has always been on making classical, quality hip-hop music; but from a Maritimes perspective.

His highly anticipated, long overdue second CD, "The Ghost Of Jacob Marley," is set to be released on Urbnet Records in November, 2005. The buzz on this project has already started to grow, and expectations this time around are much higher. A video is already in the works, with a 12' single ready to be pressed as well. The album is 16 full length songs, no skits, no fillers; just a couple bonus tracks. Featured guests include; Johnny Hardcore, Classified and Rocky Ninja. Production by Classified, Jorun, Fresh Kils, Beatmason, and Dexter Doolittle. Cuts by Jorun and DJ IV.
