DL INCOGNITO - Organic Music For A Digital World
Reported by: DJ Slim
|

Juno award nominated DL Incognito has released his third album via Urbnet Records and in so doing may just have dropped a real classic. With a musicality that is sadly seldom heard in modern Hip-Hop, DL Incognito is backed with a big production sound such as on the piano and string accompanied 'Make A Difference,' and the rhymes are not lacking either. DL, who proclaims "No gangster raps, no guns, no crack," opts for true Hip-Hop, from the sneaker ode of 'S.U.Y.S.G.' to the love triangle of 'Two Chicks' and the money-making 'Commerce.' Keeping all the rhyme space for himself DL effortlessly eschews the notion that a rapper needs 101 guests to lift an album as he laments the death of his mother while simultaneously declaring himself as a guardian of real Hip-Hop - all with a social edge. As he boldly states that "Rap music is jaded, I'll bring it back to health" this album shows that he may just be able to help do that. If Jay-Z held down the big-money world of major label Hip-Hop then DL Incognito's 'Organic Music For A Digital World' is the independent scene's answer to Jay's highly accomplished 'Blueprint.'
